§ 17-48. Barriers for excavations.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person, including contractors and city officers and employees, to make any excavation or dig any hole, drain or ditch in any street or sidewalk without providing, during the night, a temporary fence or suitable barrier around or in front of such excavation in order to prevent persons, animals or vehicles from falling into it pursuant to requirements on file in the office of the public works department and approved by the director of public works.
