§ 17-47. Placement of lights and barricades.

  • No person shall excavate in any street or sidewalk in the city without providing, during the nighttime, sufficient warning lights, to be placed with a suitable barricade or temporary fence as provided in section 17-48 around such excavation. During the daytime, the barricade or temporary fence shall be maintained and be kept in place, but warning lights shall not be required. The suitability and sufficiency of the barricades and lights required in this section shall be determined by the director of public works. No excavation shall be left open overnight except by written permission of the director of public works.
